In July 2018, India’s largest hospitality company and tech unicorn OYO Rooms approached Propel to help them grow their small UK team. The requirement began as a brief to help OYO find a Head of Growth, someone from a growth phase marketplace business with a background in consulting. Propel were engaged to conduct a full search in August, completing the process with the successful appointment in December.
However, this was only the start of the story. OYO had big ambitions and were scaling quickly. Between September 2018 and March 2019, Propel worked extensively with the OYO leadership team to make sixteen hires in total. The skill sets hired included business development, project management, transformation and business analysis as well as business operations. Included in the project was a regional leadership role in Scotland and other regional appointments in Manchester.
This team build project helped OYO considerably accelerate their growth in the UK and they continue to grow at an impressive rate.
